It's actually really short and about all we do is run errands with Leia for her boss, who is head of the city's newspaper and quite strict. She knows being a starting reporter isn't as glamorous or important as Jude's Origin research or Rowen being Prime Minister, but she feels it's worth it to endure for the sake of "finding the truth", and she owes the man to start with-- back when she first moved to Elenpios, tensions were even worse and it was difficult to find work, or even a place to live, since she was from Rieze Maxia, but thankfully he saw a hard-working girl and not a freak and gave her a job and let her board with his family. Jo, the informant in Dowall, is actually his daughter, and apparently she and Leia are very close now.
I scrape up enough money to pay my debt off and head to Ilart Port, starting Chapter 6, "Clanspia Corporation".
We arrive in the port, and I am actually rather pleased to be back in Rieze Maxia proper for some reason >_> Before actually continuing with the main chapter though, I still take my time to hunt down some Giganto Monsters and get a head start on the next wad of debt I'll have to pay. A lot of people complained about recycling the battle theme from Veserpia, but imo it's one of the better battle tracks from the game so I'm good.
And speaking of Vesperia, Jude gets the last battle theme with his Yuri costume, which is infinitely better than Alexei's theme that Asbel got :\ Also Ludger's Emil costume changes from Full Force in Rieze Maxia to A Glint of Light in Elempios. I squealed when I realized this and was not ashamed.
I talk to the people I'm supposed to, a couple of Clanspia Agents in pretty bad shape. Turns out Julius took them to town, but they managed to grab something from him: a disc with information about Alternate Worlds.
Cue the party collectively going "Alternate Worlds...?", and then Rowen and Jude visibly figuring out the crazy happenings, Alvin and Leia looking lost, and Elize and Elle just looking adorable.
Ludger is to bring the data to Bisley immediately, and Elize decides to stay behind and heal the Agents. Alvin offers to stay too, to watch over her, but she huffily replies she doesn't need someone like Alvin to be her escort. Rowen oh so kindly volunteers with a trollish side glance at Alvin, who rolls his eyes.
Back to Triglav, and into the huge classy building that is Clanspia HQ. Vel informs us that this meeting is for Ludger alone, but Jude replies that he's Ludger's friend and support. Alvin is a businessman and wants to get a feel for Clanspia. Leia is technically press. And Elle is... Lulu's handler!
Vel just linefaces at all this, but ultimately allows the gang to hop along.
Bisley has been waiting, and tells Ludger that the police are hounding the company and Bisley can no longer afford to protect someone unrelated to him, but offers that all his charges will be cleared by the corp if he becomes an Agent, aka sign his life away. Jude immediately steps in to ask what he's planning, what benefit does he get by having Ludger when he already has so many Agents.
Bisley wants to destroy the Alternate Worlds.
He and Vel explain that the Alternate Worlds are born from this, the Original World, but aren't independent despite the all differences between them; each of the Alternates shortens the lifespan of the Original. Clanspia is an ordinary business on the outside, but have actually been researching the Alt Worlds for a while now, and though they've gotten to the point where they can locate each Alt World, they have no means to travel to or destroy the cores of the worlds, Time Factors.
Jude asks how he thinks Ludger will of any use to this, and Bisley just chuckles and says he already knows the answer to his question-- because we've destroyed several Alt Worlds already to date, with Ludger's armored form that Bisley calls "Corpse Shell". An ability that only those of the Kresnik bloodline have, and why Bisley hired Julius. In Rieze Maxia, Kresnik was known as an ancient Sage who was close with the old Maxwell, but apparently they(have no clear indication of Kresnik's gender yet but probably guy?) were actually a warrior from Elenpios tasked with a mission by the Three Prime Spirits and blessed with the Corpse Shell armored form.
Letting his researcher side just take over Jude keeps asking all the questions, specifically why and how the Alt Worlds are created, and Bisley only says it's due to one of the Three, the Prime Spirit of Time Chronos, and is connected to Kresnik's mission, and that's it. He returns to Ludger with his hand held out, saying it's well worth it to accept before adding that having access to the company's information on the Alt Worlds will help in the search for his brother, as he's certain that Julius is hiding out in one.
Ludger raises his hand up, and choice:
=>...Alright, I'll do it. =>[I have no idea what so that makes my choice clear here]
They shake, and Bisley attaches a chip to Ludger's collar that grants him access to all areas of the HQ, information from field Agents and all that jazz, then tells us to meet him in the building basement, in the Agent training area.
Sorry old fart, but you'll have to wait while I explore all 4 of 40 floors that I can. I get some treasures and a lot of Julius and Redou fangirls raging at each other for my trouble and time.
So I go down, and Bisley shows Ludger how to control the Corpse Shell mode at will during battle! A gauge shows up at the bottom of the screen opposite the Link Artes/Overlimt bar, and simply you have until it runs out to be in a pseudo Alt World with only Ludger and enemies, AC, TP, HP is all ignored, Ludger has set Artes for each direction + button combo like a fighter game, and it is basically "do massive amounts of damage while you can". Like Vesperia's overlimt where there are different levels, we are at 1 right now.
I'M LOVING THIS SHIT.
Elle is actually kind of terrified of Ludger in that form, though, and we see her peeking around some cargo boxes once the tutorial battle is done. Bisley says he expects good work from us, and goes on his way.
Character quests while I run about paying off my debt! I am slightly saddened by the fact that I can't escape adult responsibilities even in video games now >:
Alvin Episode 1
We run over to Dowall to do this, where we find Alvin trying to strike up a deal with a produce vendor. I guess he's just generally working in profiting off exporting from Rieze Maxia to Elenpios? Anyways, the vendor thinks there's no difference in the quality, so Alvin calls us over while pretending not to know us and asks which of the samples we prefer-- with a subtle gesture at the one we should go along with. Sure enough there's a choice, and I go with the right one to raise Alvin's affection and not be an asshole.
The vendor grudgingly relents and as he and Alvin turn away to start discussions, the latter gives up a thumbs-up. But some sudden gunshots further in town catch the attention of everyone on the main street, and Alvin recognizes the voice calling out to stop, so he dashes off and we follow. It's Jurgens, a wyvern trainer the party met last game and who is now partners with Alvin since Elenpios' tech makes wyvern travel obsolete. He's surrounded by some of the Brandt mooks from before, who are obviously giving him a hard time since he's very obviously from Rieze Maxia. We get ready to fight since our numbers are better this time, but Ivar suddenly drops down and curb stomps all the mooks HIMSELF, since he can't stand to see a fellow Rieze Maxian being treated this way.
But then he realizes it us, and since he's not here on Clanspia business, can kick our ass. For some reason. It's best not to ask with this kid.
A moderate boss battle later and Ivar limps away in shame, the Brandt mooks are no where to be seen, and unfortunately the vendor tells Alvin he can't in good mind do business with someone who stirs up trouble like this. Jurgens apologizes to Alvin, but the latter says he doesn't mind; since it would have been made due to a lie he would have probably started to regret it. He says he still has a long ways to go when it comes to not lying all the time.
We're in Ha Mill, Elize's hometown, and we see a nearby child talking to her mother, and the mother telling her that if she's good she may get a Vaanish doll. Ludger goes "?" and Elize explains that it's a popular toy among the children of Rieze Maxia and Elenpios alike, based off the passive and shy monster of the same name.
So basically Cheagles that act like Abras, I'm guessing.
Elize notes that Elle's backpack is a Vaanish too, and Elle tsuns and says that she's not such a little kid and i-it's not that she likes Vaanish or anything, but her Papa got it for her and that's why she likes it. She then walks away to go play with Lulu, and Elize watches her with a knowing smile before her phone goes off with a text from an older friend in school, Luna, asking how she is. She explains to Ludger and Rowen that Luna is kind of like an older sister to her, and Rowen wonders if Elize is trying to be the same thing for Elle.
Elize considers this for a moment before saying probably, yes. She never knew her parents, so having people like Drossel and Luna act like a sister to her made her very happy since she was lonely. She's sure that Elle is lonely without her parents around too, so she wants to do what she can for her. She asks Ludger to help her look for a Vaanish monster as they travel around, so they can show Elle, since Elize feels she really does like Vaanish.
